Hi Michael,
I was just wondering out of curiosity, is the standard neck on the MM Blues 12-fret now bound or unbound, and if it's now bound how long were they made unbound for?
Cheers,
Matt

Hi Matt,
The necks on MM Blues guitars are now bound and have been that way for quite a while. The original design was for it to be unbound, but some bound ones came through and they were popular, so we kept it going. At first the shipments were mixed, some bound and some not, but exactly when all this happened I am not sure. I think it was in 2011 that bound necks became standard.
I like the variations in each shipment, such as neck bindings, colour of sunburst, colour of wood stain ....etc. With most things we buy these days they all come out identical, but with handbuilt small factory products there are variations and that is in keeping with National & Dobro in the 20s and 30s, and adds a 'real' feel to the guitars. I like these little variations.

Thanks for the info Michael. It's just those little variations that have made me reconsider selling mine to finance the Blues '28. I was thinking in the future I could pick up another second hand, but there's too many little things about mine that I like (the unbound neck being one!), and I know there's no guarantee I could ever get another quite like it.
Cheers,
Matt

Hi Matt, If you like what you have, keep it! No two guitars are ever the same and you can never get another guitar to sound and feel like the one you have. I have had minor jobs done on guitars that has ruined them. Sometimes when everything just feels right for you, don't change anything. Just let it age gracefully... Shine On Michael.
