A young Leo Kottke, playing some nice stuff. Before he got tendonitus and changed his playing style radically.

i saw him in fairbanks, alaska, around the turn of the century.
no, it wasn't a matter of any sort of desperation for gigs for such a talented musician.
more of a personal favor. turns out he was an old friend of someone trying to set up a concert production company in the area. kinda like the Don Henley and "friends" playing at "Music City Texas Theater" in Linden, TX when it opened after restoration. i got burned on that deal, the tickets sold out 3 days before they went on sale!?
having seen Mr. Kottke twice back in the '70's, he has slowed his playing style down some from then. no more belt-fed fully auto note strings as per "Vaseline Machine Gun" from his "6 and 12 String Guitar" album.
still, with my ever changing musical tastes moving far away from the notes-per-second guitar player rating system i employed back then, he sounded even better than before to me. it could also be partly due to the fact that the ~worst~ seat in the house was an entire 50 feet from the stage, mine in the second row. sweet.
french composer Claude Debussy is credited with saying, “Music is the space between the notes.”
don't miss out on a chance to go see Leo if he's playing near (or far from) you. it was a 300 mile round trip for me, dead of alaskan winter.
i was sure glad that i made the trip. bet you would be also.
