Hi Michael, some time ago I bought both of your slide DVDs and they were very helpful. After a pause where I just played without a slide I now re-activated my slide playing. Now I read in this forum in an old reply from you (from 2004 I think) that you use 15-56 strings. "I play electric slide on my Dave King Telecaster "King Guitar" and I use my own "Electric Slide Classics" gauged - 15 to 56." The heaviest strings for electric guitar I could find where 13-56 (or baritone strings, but I guess these are, well, for baritone guitars... ) BTW I checked thomann.de, which is by far the biggest music store in Germany and usually they have about anything music related. Any idea where I can get fatter strings like the ones you recommend? Thanks a lot, Andi PS What kind of string do you recommend for slide? For non slide I prefer pure nickel round core (Thomastik Blues sliders), because they are not harsh or aggressive at all. The highs are very soft and mild. I'm a retro guy from Delta Blues to Chicago Blues. The overall sound is very smooth and pleasing.

Hi Andi, Welcome to our forum. The strings I use on my Dave King electric guitar are handmade in the UK by Newtone Strings as 'Michael Messer Electric Slide Classics' and are available at many shops around the world, or direct from Newtone Strings. They are not made with round cores. However, if you do particularly want round core 15/56 strings for your electric guitar, get a set of nickel 'Michael Messer National Guitar Strings' in the blue packet. These are old style round core strings. Sometimes I use the round core strings on my electric, but mostly the regular MM Slide Classics. If you contact Newtone Strings, they will tell you the name of a dealer in Germany. I hope that is helpful to you. It is where I keep all MM business stuff so the forum doesn't get cluttered up with commercial threads.Best wishes, Shine On Michael
