Hi playing on JJ Cale's records, such as Crazy Mama, are some of my favourite recordings of slide guitar!

Hello Michael,
Long time no hear. I too am a big fan of Mac Gayden's slide work on J J Cale's early albums (I think he only plays on the first three) but had not realised that he also co-authored "Everlasting Love" made famous by the British group Love Affair in the 60s. It was also recorded by artists as disparate as Robert Knight (the original version), Gloria Estefan and U2. For the real anoraks out there it is apparently the only song that has been recotrded in every decade since it was written. Life is stranger than fiction...
All the best,
Joe (aka Mairena Red)
PS Listening to Alison Krauss and Union Station at the moment. What a fabulous band. Alison Krauss's beautiful vocals and fiddle playing, Dan Tyminski on guitar, mandolin and vocals, Ron Block on banjo and guitar and of course the Mohammed Ali of the Dobro (according to James Taylor), Jerry Douglas.
