Wow Garry,
Very nice; if anyone wants to know what we mean by 'growl' in terms of tone, all they need to do is listen to the bass notes this track. A real show stopper! I see why you are so blown away by your NRP Tricone. Do you still only use a mic? I had a 2000 style one which didn't sound anywhere near like yours. The thinner metal and arched back seems to make a huge improvement in the overall sound.

A certain amount of assertiveness is required with sound guys who have forgotten that guitars CAN be mic'd and who have either forgotten how or never knew in the first place. They also need to have it pointed out to them that this beast is NOT the same as the crappy cheap Crafter they tried to mic last week and that it doesn't work the same as other acoustics. Then they're amazed. The mic on the recording is an AKG C415 with the hypercardoid head fitted, aimed at the grills about 12" away. I'd move it back further in a better sounding room.

Really enjoyed this and I got a very Pat Donohue type of feel (Nobody's Fault album)
