I finally managed to finish rubbing down the awful finish on my "cosmetic reject" Lightning a couple of days ago. Several tins of Elbow Grease later this is the result. In the back of my head I kept wondering if I should in fact paint it? I love the mirror finish of the nickel plating of the Lightnings. But the rubbed, matt finish of my guitar is growing on me more and more and I am actually quite fond of it now. In fact I noticed on eBay one dealer in the US offering Nationals with this kind of finish and charging a premium for it. I know why!!! With the new strings on it it sounds fabulous too, I just need to learn to play it now. Daily practice is helping but playing slide ain't as easy as it looks is it! Attachments:
