I put my MM Blues down for a while while I was frustrated. Pulled it out again and tried adjusting the truss rod, doing some measuring and looking more at the fingerboard.
I tightened the adjustment rod about as much as I dared to do. That lowered the action from the first to about the 8th fret. The low and high strings stayed at about 4-5 mm from the top of the fret to the bottom of the strings before and after, with the high string being slightly higher from the fret.
From the 8-9 frets, the fingerboard takes a big dip and then rises dramatically toward the end of the fingerboard. The fingerboard looks like a roller coaster. No matter how I adjust the truss rod, the fingerboard has some pretty ugly curves to it and the action remains high from the 9-14 frets.
I haven't put a shorter tailpiece on it yet because I'm not convinced that the warped fingerboard is going to respond well to it. I'm beginning to believe that I need the neck reset, frets pulled, and fingerboard leveled.
I am suspecting that I may be better off buying something like a "hot rod" where the action is guaranteed to be playable down the neck, but I don't know how much money it will cost to reset the neck, or even who in the area (Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA) is even qualified to do it.
Any other ideas?
Thanks,
Jim

Hi Jim,
I would like to check your MM Blues in our orders database. Can you tell me its serial number and whether you purchased it direct from Busker Guitars, from a dealer, or secondhand as a private sale. If you got it direct from Busker, do you have a purchase date?
Thanks,
Shine On Michael

Michael and Robin go the extra mile to satisfy their customers because they actually and sincerely care about the consumer which is quite rare these days. I can't wait to add an MM blues late fall or early winter which will become a part of the collection of Resos I intend to start.
Best to you Michael and Robin! Jaco

OK, I received the replacement Blues today. First and so important, I can't express enough how pleased I am with the quick decision to provide excellent service. You stood by your product magnificently, and I will tell that to anyone that cares to listen. In MBA school they told us that someone with a good experience will maybe tell one person, but a person with a bad experience will tell a whole lot of people, loudly; well, I'm going to do the opposite and sing your praises. where I can Both you (Michael) and Robin made me extremely happy with your responsiveness.
I haven't had a lot of time to play it, and it will take a while to settle in to the sound you are justly held in high regard for, but I will further update as I get more experience with it. From what I have played, I can tell you that the replacement frets so much easier down the neck. I did notice a reasonable settling in of the sound after a short session.
I can't wait to play out with this instrument.
Many Thanks,
Jim

Hi Jim,
Thank you for your very kind message, it is very much appreciated.
Robin and I both believe that customer satisfaction is the most important part of running a business like ours. In addition, every MM guitar has my name stamped on the headstock and that means that I am personally connected to, and responsible for, every single MM guitar.
I hope your new MM guitar will give you many years of enjoyment.
Best wishes

Hi all, this is my first post on this board, though I've been lurking and learning for a while, but I just had to jump in here and say "that's the way to do business!" Well done Michael and Buskers! I recently bought my first reso (although I've been fingerpicking for a few years now). I would have liked to have bought from Buskers due to their great reputation but they didn't do the model type I wanted (parlour size/metal body - i bought a republic Highway 61). I'm currently on the order list a Canon though and I'm really looking forward to them coming back into stock.
Michael two questions for you:
Any update on the Canon's arrival?
Any change of you offering a parlour size metal reso in the future, I already fancy another [too lazy to keep tuning G to D and back ;-) ].
