That looks like a troll or competitor looking to spread bad information. I have been all over cheaper resos the last 12 years.
My Amistar was wonderful and a real player but had to sell due to unemployment.
The Republic I have is decent and a nice sound, a step above the Regals, Johnsons etc I have had.
I am selling anything I have to get a Lightning, I trust the folks here, Gerry C, Bluesbear and all the rest. I wouldn't sweat it Michael, that reads as a beat up, really? ground frets? etc? Not from the Robin I had email dealings with.

Just thinking aloud here.
Many of the folks on this Forum are like friends to me. By that I mean, you can generally trust the advice that they offer and especially our Michael and Robin. There are many nice souls on this Forum and they give their advice based on knowledge they have through years of experience of playing and associating with many aother practical and knowledgeable musicians. I trust what they say and have acted on it many times without being disappointed. Thank Michael, Robin, Al, Gerry C, Andy s, Chickenbone John and the rest of the gang. Thanks so much, such things are becoming increasingly rare in this world.
Congratulations to our Robin and his new bride. May your relationship always stay nicely in tune, the exchanges always resonate nicely. Take care and best wishes.

I'm with kiwi all the way on this one ~ a couple of our competitors post disparaging comments about ours, and other slide-makers products on their websites (or should that be 'webshites') ~ never on forums because they'll receive the same feedback as above. Their mindset is, If you can't beat 'em - stick up a testimonial from a 'customer' saying how much better their products are than ours.....yep - makes me really angy!!

Thanks Al ~ yep, the 'name & shame' brigade who are either friends or family of said competitors, or business aquaintances. I know of one of our competitors who regularly offers a 'two-for-one' deal on slides ~ "if I give you a couple of free slides - say something nice about me, and also criticise my competition".
The 'rules' then aren't broken, because the competitor hasn't directly criticised other companies' products....he's got someone else to do it for him!!
Grrrrrr.....

I had a look at the negative posting about MM/Busker and I think the guy being truthful. He had high hopes when he ordered the guitar but was not happy with it. I know that MM and Robin both try VERY hard to please everyone , this one was just too hard to please. Still with 500? 1000? guitars sold by Busker that only brings the `satisfaction` rating down to 99.75%. Busk on PT

Nah ~ that's got to be a troll at work. Okay, he may have been a bit peeved with the set-up & condition of his original resonator, but the replacement Robin shipped would've been exemplary ~ otherwise it wouldn't have been sent!
Interesting to see who this customer is / was....I wonder??

sounds like its a guy called A.r Sole,From the day i ordered my MM Blues to the day i recived it was only a matter of days, and it came before i even paid for it thats how good the service is. what people tend to forget is they are not Nationals hence the price of them but for value for money there is None better,Ebay is full of people selling the cheap and nasty resonator guitars cus they are all buying MM GUITARS, and i think that who ever is trying to put the boot in is obviously Jealous . if they want to make a comparison i would put my MM Blues up against any of them!!! wolvoboy

Picking up on wolvoboys comment about not being nationals, well they might as well be. From what I can gather, MM and Robin worked out how much a national (duolian i think) would cost now to make, and decided that NRP etc were 'overmaking' their guitars somewhat. All the important components could be built / assembled properly for less, and with the quality design and materials, MM guitars are about the equivalent price and standard as nationals were back then. MM just needs to come up with a budget metal body dobro now! TT

I think one thing we MM owners all have in common is,we ae all very protective of our MM resonator guitars reputation, and the fact Michael and Robin have got together with all their years of experience to produce such wonderful guitars for us,its like TT said all we want now is some new models, wood bodied Triolian for me and a metal bodied Dobro for TT, Also how about a MM resocaster( a nice copy of yours would be nice Michael) i think we would all be in guitar paradise. wolvoboy

It's a business proposition. There must have been a very large investment behind getting the MM guitars that are so highly thought of into our hands. MM/ Busker is an independant set up and lack of caution in growth will only end in despair. I think they seem to have it pitched about right, as of now... How many people would step up to that bar, and then reject a whole batch of instruments? They didn't find their way back to Shanghai as stowaways. Investing in new models is a risk and part of the decision must inevitably be an assessment of the likely market. That's to say a dependable view of the potential market. With wooden bodies, there is a very much larger infrastructure ready and waiting to grab a piece of your own pie? I rather think that it's a case of "Que Sera" and the endless speculation is not going to hasten wood bodied resos or tri-cones in our direction any time soon. I'll just offer thanks for the incredible instruments that we already have. Just my 5 cents worth...
