National Lap Steel Guitar we think it is circa 1930s and it looks very similar to one i saw at www.roystark.com but someone else said it sounds like a chicagoan from 1940s but yet it looks exactly like the one that is on roystarsks home page. It is shaped like an oar. could you give me any info on this, we need money desperately and dont want to get ripped off. I am going through chemo tx and my husband is disabled and we have 6 kids and are about to lose our home. Please help ty!

Hi,
As I said in my reply to your previous posting, even if your guitar is identical to that on Roy Starks site the valuation of $10,000 he gives is in Hong Kong dollars. Current conversion rates make this around 643 Great British Pounds. Since Roy is based in Hong Kong which is known for its very high cost of living, I doubt very much if your guitar, even in mint condition, would sell for more than 500 pounds on the English market. Better than nothing but not as much as you hoped I'm afraid.
I think this opinion is re-enforced by the price set for the guitar on the Elderly Instruments site, which, although not the same as Roy's guitar, is very similar.
Good luck and I hope your situation improves quickly.
