Have a look on notecannons.com under Mandolin. It certainly looks like a National to me. How wide is the cover plate ?

Hi Steven, The link to 'how to post pics' is here. www.notecannons.com/forum_picture_info.htmlI've never found out much about these mandolins, I've had three over the years, one was a 'faux' resonator, it had the coverplate but no resonator under it! One of my two with resonators has slot head screws and the other has philips/Xhead (presumably later) which look similar to the screws holding the cover plate on yours. I believe they were made, probably in Chicago by Regal, in the late 30's early 40's and were branded as Nationals, but haven't any evidence of that. There is guy in Chugiak, Alaska, who has several, and who is a mandolin player. I believe he worked with Don Young in the design of the Nat Reso mandolin a few years back. I can't lay my hand on his email address, but his name is Wade Hampton Miller, he has posted at IGS several times. I'll try and put you in touch with him. Aloha Colin
