Hey Michael ;D
Just wondered how you achieve this in analogue... Since you recorded your music without a digital device, I wondered how you looped the drums (e.g. on "Blue Letters"). I assume they came from vinyl in the first place?
Or the conversation on "In The Pocket" - how did you manage to put them in place? That seems so easy to be done in digital, but I think it could really be a PITA in analogue...

Hi Nico,
All the samples including the drum loops were done in real time live on to tape. The vinyl with the drum loops is designed to loop, each track is a repeating loop, a bit like a scratched record! We played while the drum loop went round and round on the turntable.
The conversation in 'In The Pocket' is totally live and recorded in real time. Nothing was moved or changed, that is how it went down. Each listener hears things their own way - what you call 'the conversation' in 'In The Pocket' is not a conversation, it is one voice talking into the mic. Because it is low in the mix it creates a mysterious sound and draws you in to the music.....I hope!!!!
Louie Genis, our man on the turntables, has superb timing and a wonderful sense of what fits into music and what doesn't. I have had many comments from people who really know their scratching & sampling about Louie's skill.
Keep in touch, Shine On Michael.
