Loving this new album by Justin Adams and Mauro Durante. Here's track one, Dark Road Down, studio album version and live at the Real World studio in the beautiful village of Box, Wiltshire.

I’m watching a Howlin Wolf documentary on Amazon Prime video. Saw this somewhere in the middle.

Tampa in stunning form on this one. Plenty to get your teeth into if you want to improve your technique.

When The Levee Breaks - the latest offering from Playing For Change.
Definitely one of their better ones. It is very well put together, but I think it would have been amazing and maybe time to credit and include the people that wrote it, Memphis Minnie & Kansas Joe McCoy. So I will.

Once I got over the thrill of Playing For Change's Levee video, I fell to the temptation of viewing it again and I kind of suspected that some parts were (perhaps?) not really quite as new as you'd think? Certainly I'm guessing that whether Memphis Minnie was ever acknowleded, a cover is a cover and it's what you do with a cover that justifies the exercise or otherwise. Whatever, I'm guessing that the original copyright has expired by now?
Sadly it seems that the rights owners have already swung the axe on that great video. You'd have thought that having Jonesy on bass would be good enough, but no- heaven forfend that the LZ rights owners should be denied any handfuls of shekels, denari, yuan or whatever.
Why couldn't they just demonitise it, hoover up the scraps generated altruistically through the efforts of others thus allowing us, the great unwashed hoi-poloi to enjoy it?
"Maybe get a little blister on your finger ..."

"Maybe get a little blister on your finger ..." でつ e&oe ...That song is still in copyright as it was republished by LZ with five names in the writers' credits - John Paul Jones, John Bonham, Memphis Minnie, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant. On my original copy of LZ IV MM's name is not in the writers' credits. My late friend and author of many wonderful books about the blues, Paul Oliver, couldn't bear to hear the name LZ because of how so many old songs were credited on their recordings of them. It used to happen a lot back then, Crossroads was another that was credited wrongly. Shame, the Playing For Change Levee Breaks video was well done. Here is the well known recording of it. Damn...what a brilliant sounding track! Amazing work by Andy Johns that recorded it. Shine On Michael
