Sam Mitchell -as recommended to me by Lew ..( on vinyl) I knew Sam and he was a truly great musician. To discuss Sam in more detail there needs to be a thread about him, rather than on this thread. Shine On Michael I too got to know Sammy quite well. Lovely guy, helpful and encouraging to me and taken from us far too soon by poor lifestyle choices. One of the Great slide players.

I've got the same spring loaded thumb pick, so we're quite similar. Beautiful!

One for learning at the next Pocklington? PD, This is one of my favourite of Sam's recordings. I did learn to play it a few years ago. I will brush up on it for our next session. On Sam's final album he recorded a song called "Monkey In My Head" which is a continuation of the Kokomo thing that he played on Rainy Day Blues. For me it is the better of the two recordings. Sam would be happy to know that we are still enjoying his music. "Anyone got a straight?"Shine On Michael

We may have posted before. Hereβs John Lee of Alabama. He plays with a pocket knife.

The stunning Guitar Slim (James Stevens). Wonderful slide playing amongst other goodies.

Quite sad about Henry Johnson. He finally got a hit album at 65 and passed away a few months later.
