Marcel Dadi - Saturday Night Shuffle Marcel Dadi was a wonderful musician whose tragic death on board TWA flight 800 in 1996 took him and 230 passengers and crew. I have just done a performance for the virtual 2020 Issoudun Guitar Festival in France, which was started by Marcel Dadi. Shine On Michael

Getting back to Celestine Ukwu...
... Here's a challenge: can you get smoother than that ?!
This bassline, those trumpet riffs, and I don't mention all the rest...
He was shining for sure, and his music is still irradiating.

Love this! It's been a fave of mine for a very long time.
Big Joe Turner & Elmore James with the Blues Kings - TV Mama - 1953
I always enjoy it because we are hearing Elmore James in this more sophisticated setting. Produced by Leonard & Phil Chess, it is a masterful recording.
...And this one "Boogie Woogie Country Girl" was one of the recordings that first turned me on to all this stuff when I was a teenager.
Recorded in New York in 1955 and produced by the legendary Ahmet Ertegun and Jerry Wexler, It ROCKS!!!!

Beautiful! I love the electric kalimba. I saw Joachim use this in London two years ago when he opened the show for his dad. Joachim Cooder performs "Over That Road I'm Bound to Go," from his album 'Over That Road I'm Bound,' out now on Nonesuch Records: smarturl.it/OverThatRoadImBound
Directed & Edited by Jeff Coffman Director of Photography: Evin Grant
On 'Over That Road I’m Bound,' his Nonesuch Records debut album, Joachim Cooder uses the plain-spoken songs of country-music progenitor and banjo player Uncle Dave Macon as a jumping off point, tinkering with the lyrics and reworking melodies for his chosen instrument: an electric mbira. Cooder culled songs from Macon’s vast catalog and recorded them with his band and special guests: Ry Cooder, Rayna Gellert, Juliette Commagere, Sam Gendel, Glenn Patscha, Amir Yaghmai, Dan Gellert, and Vieux Farka Touré.Shine On Michael

Götz Alsmann & Rory Gallagher playing "I Can't Be Satisfied" 1987 - This Video was shot by Rudi Gerlach (R.I.P) who worked as a professional cameraman at WDR, Germany and he was a close friend of Rory..

Free Way - Larry Carlton with Joe Sample, Wilton Felder and Stix Hooper from 1973 album “Singing Playing Playing Singing” Sorry about the ads, can’t seem to get away from them these days Starts off light and jazzy leading up to a heavily distorted section in the middle. I used to know what the pedal was called but not any longer. At the end of the distorted section around 4:30 there’s this lovely segue back that sounds like a Doppler effect, cars passing on the freeway. Wonderful, what a great guitarist.

Jimmie Tarlton was a fine lap steel player. He learnt directly from Frank Ferara, the most prolific Hawaiian guitarist of the early era. Along with his partner Tom Darby, they made some wonderful records and wrote, or were the first to record a couple of American classics, Birmingham Jail and Columbus Stockade Blues. There are a couple of great Darby & Tarlton albums. Shine On Michael
