This is a film of sixteen year old Zach Fielder and me playing Walking Blues at Blues Week 2011. Another film of the same performance has been posted on the forum elsewhere, but this is a much better quality film and Zach sings and plays so well that I thought he should have a place on Music Row.

Here is Zach doing his version of a Tommy Emmanuel arrangement of Harold Arlen's 'Over The Rainbow'.
The song is actually called 'Over The Rainbow', but I think due to Eva Cassidy's version which was released as 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' it has become known as that to many people.

Good stuff, I take my hat off to Zach, I couldn't have got on stage and done that at 16, maybe not even now. Blues week sounds like a good time (judging by the sound of the crowd), hopefully I'll make it next year!

Another triumph for the John Jackson Scholarship ? I didn`t start playing till I was 18 (and 40 years later still can`t play like Zach) I do play Walkin` Blues, but usualy play it with the 4chord before the 5, as Robert J.(well the way he does the first 2 verses) and I think most other times i`ve heard it ,its been done in a `normal` 12bar style rather than RJs way. I would encourage anyone to at least put in 2 12s with the 4chord before the 5 if your set is mostly 12bars, as it is a change from the expected. ( Zach will have lots of other stuff in his set so he can put in the odd normal12bar ), as I only play 12bars I try to make each as different as pos. . Pete T

Yes - Zach was there because of the John Jackson Scholarship. It is a wonderful thing to be able to offer Blues Week to young people and those who set it up should be proud of their achievements. Along with Michael Roach and other EBA members, I believe Pete1951 was one of the instigators, in fact it may have been his idea.

Real music! I'm old and never even thought about attempting a Tommy Emmanuel tune [laughter]. We've all seen Tommy play;-) As for Walking Blues and the whole lot I wish I was there. Great fun... great music! You can't hide much behind an acoustic instrument. Hat's off to you and Mr. Fielder;-)
