A colleague of mine linked me this really interesting interview with ry cooder, talking about a lot of the old bluesman, guitar technique and the roots of a lot of the music. It is quite an old interview so it may of been seen before but hopefully someone will get something out of it. jasobrecht.com/ry-cooder-%E2%80%93-talking-country-blues-and-gospel/#Enjoy!! Dave

nice one dave I feel i know a fair bit more about those early players now. Maybe i'm wrong, but it reinforces my belief he (RC) is way more fussy about authentic / traditional matters than technical matters. TT

Hi Dave & TT,
It is a great interview and I am pleased to see it on here. I read it a while ago, in fact I think it may have been linked to this forum by Honeyboy.
Ry Cooder always has an interesting perspective when discussing music.

wonderful interview, thanks for posting, learnt loads that I didn't have a clue about in terms of history but also a wonderful insight into Ry Cooder himself. I am left with the best bit of playing advice I've seen in a while 'If it takes too much effort and physical work, then you’re doing something wrong' ain't that the truth
