Hi again !
Alister - I'm sure we could work something out to meet up sometime soon. Do you know Gary Martin ? He lives in Peebles and gigs with me, playing great harp and slide guitar (electric).
We should meet up. I'm kind of busy this month but might work out something.

Hi again ! Sorry for the delay getting back to you - yes, I got your emails. I've emailed you back a reply with my mobile no.
As you know Gary Martin is an ace harp player - acoustically but also amplified up - with his wee Fender valve amp and selection of harp mics. I sourced him a few on eBay for him - including a spare one of the one he usually gigs with (he has been looking for a spare for years). I'm really lucky to get to gig with Gary as he is a great player - on slide guitar too ! And he is a really funny guy !!

Hey Snakehips, thanks again- we will meet up a soon as possible, your collection of Nationals is amazing! It's very much the 'G' note that is setting off this buzzing on my M2. If I hit the harmonic at the 12th fret it's really noticeable. If I press on the cover plate and hit the harmonic- no buzzing. What does the cover plate sit on that would cause the buzzing?

Pushing on the coverplate could be putting pressure on the coverplate screws, or taking pressure off the tailpiece, or...putting pressure on the pit-props....or taking the coverplate away from a buzzing ball-end on a string. Things that can buzz in a National.....include...cone, biscuit, tuners, pit-props, truss-rod, coverplate, tailpiece, strings, ball-ends, in fact...everything!
I think the offer from Richard (Snakehips) is a very kind one, but I still recommend talking to Dave King as he is the official NRP repairer & now a main dealer. If you have just bought a brand new expensive guitar, it should not be giving you problems. It would be wrong of me to start advising you and trying to cure the buzz over the Internet. If I could see it, I could do it easily.
Shine On, Michael.

Thanks Michael, The problem I have is time! I use the National a lot 3-4 gigs a week. Thats what is frustrating, I am pretty handy with my acoustics, electrics and mandolins, and feel I could fix this! I take your point about the fact that its a new guitar, I just wish I was closer to London, heck, even seeing Snakehips is difficult and he's only an hour away! I put some felt under the ball ends some time ago, should they rest on the coverplate? Thanks for all your help Michael, have you heard something similar before. especially when you hit the harmonic?
