I recently started playing slide on my old ovation nylon strung guitar..maybe that's weird, but it seems to work...I have a slide I got from somewhere, glass with thick walls....but my little finger rattles about in it like a pea in a box....I need a new one..! Can anybody recommend a particular type or material..? Does anybody else slide on nylon..? do I have a problem...? lol...(:
Thanks in advance for any advice....

Hi Roger, Welcome along to our forum. It is unusual to play slide with nylon strings, but perfectly okay. I sometimes play slide on a cheap nylon string guitar that I have at home. I have seen John Williams (classical guitarist) use a teaspoon to play slide on nylon strings. I would recommend a glass slide for you. You should try a real glass bottleneck and a hand-made glass slide. They are not too expensive so it is worth getting a couple to try. With classical guitars/nylon strings you want a light slide, anything too heavy will kill the sweet tone of the strings. Contact Ron at - www.frets.co.uk (Ron will advise you well, mention my name when you talk to him) Shine On, Michael.

Thanks for the answer Michael..your a gent'...(: The guitar is an old USA Ovation.. With a cedar top and a big flat ebony board...It really sounds alright...serendipity is my middle name..lol Actually, today I went and bought a thinner walled, smaller size slide, for the little finger...(Jim Dunlop)..and I was quite surprised in the difference in tone.....To tell the truth, the one i had in the first place sounds much better...(also a Dunlop) So..two options...get fat...or go search for the holy grail of small fat bottle necks.... Damn..I think I'm on another quest.....
All the best to you Sir....
