Just read on an earlier thread about a poster who heard someone else playing his resonator, and was blown away by how good it sounded. It made me think that we as the players of our instruments, often don't get to hear them at their optimum. We hear the sound from the top, rather than the front. I guess this is true of acoustic guitarists, but it is more pronounced for us resonator players. I have experimented by playing into a corner of a room, to try and get the sound to bounce back, or against a blank wall. Do any other posters have any tips/tricks to getting more of the true sound of your guitar, to come more directly to your ears? I know you could try recording yourself, of getting someone else to play your guitar to you, but that isn't always possible. Any thoughts?

Hi Andy,
I hang my guitars up on the wall - you can then strum and stand back. It's interesting to compare guitars this way, some very surprising results.
You might also try playing it lap style, it's what I usually do when I'm trying one out in a shop. I'm not very good at lap style, but it does give you a more rounded impression of the geetar.

All Around Man,
I too hang my guitars on walls, it solves storage problems, and keeps my spouse happier with my having a sizeable collection of the things. You've just given me another justification....
As for Donmo, a neat solution. I wonder how well it works? Now, then where are those hole- saws...!

I have a suspicion that the side port may work too well I recon that you would need ear defenders !!! ;D Robn
