Hi Gang,
I asked a question similar to this before but not quite the same.
The other day I noticed that National sells hardcases on their website for their guitars. I just wondered, for those of you fortunate enough to own a Lightning and a National Style O or similar, if the standard National Case would be the correct size for the Lightning?
Cheers
Tony.

Hi Tony,
I don't have any National Reso-Phonic cases, but I do have some Calton cases made to fit 12 fret National guitars.
The MML fits into my Calton cases, but with the padding designed for a National the MML is quite tight. If I used the case with an MML for a few trips the foam padding would adjust and fit perfectly.
As I have not seen the inside of an NRP case I cannot comment on whether or not it will fit, but I am sure someone on this forum can answer your question.
I don't think there is anything special about NRP cases. There are many good cases available that will fit your guitar. Usually the case size is for classical guitars. Hiscox cases are a good buy and IMO are more durable than the cases you are enquiring about.
I hope that helps,
Shine On, Michael

Thanks Michael for the quick reply, I've dropped a note to Wunjo too to get an opinion from Brian or Ron too, and if they have something it'll give me a chance to drool all over the "Fine Resophonic" they have in there!! Brian keeps moving the Reso, I suspect to make sure the carpet wears evenly from me standing and staring at it! ;D
I'll report back on my findings in case anyone else is looking for a replacement hardcase.
Cheers
T.

If I was in the market for a hardcase for a reso but not going for a full Calton style job, I'd actually go for a Reunion Blues Continental gig bag. These offer superior protection to a traditional wood-built hard case (like the NRP ones) but with the added bonus of extra storage and more comfortable carrying.

They are excellent and although I don't own any, I have wanted a couple of Reunion Blues gig bags for a long time. My original blue Pod cases that I use when I am not going through airports and using Caltons, are getting worn out, so I think I will get a couple of RB bags sometime soon.

Popped into Wunjo Guitars today where Ron and Big Marc sorted me out a Hiscox case (STD-CL I beleive it is), exactly the right size, I mean there was maybe 1cm either side of the lower bout give or take, length is right, all is good.
Cheers Guys!!
Tony.

If you contact Hiscox cases they will send you some pads to make your guitar fit perfectly at the lower bout. They sent me some a while ago for similar puposes.
