Great gig tonight with the Martin Harley Band.. Interesting Weissenborn guitars from a german luthier Andreas Cuntz (As Martin says, thats a hard name to forget..) His Koa Weissenborn looks (and sounds) great - and I just love the slotted headstock. Not a luthier or Weissenborn variant that I'd come across before. Very impressed. The string definition on his solid body electric 'Weissenborn' lap steel was tremendous (also has a cool slotted headstock). Unfortunately the info on the luthiers website is 'patchy' with only one textual mention of the solid body lap steel range and no pics. Hear him talking about his playing and lap slide influences in the above video See him jamming in Mali with Vieux Farka Toure in 2008..

Busking For Cancer Martin Harley Band are doing an hour's busking in the afternoon before each gig they do and donating all the proceeds to the 'Busking for Cancer' charity. What a great idea. They have also donated the proceeds of their single 'Winter Coat' to the same charity.

I think Martin Harley is a terrific musician, the you-tube video I have seen before...... they are on CDs from the 'Acoustic guitar ' magazine . a good friend of mine sent them over when he had finished with them. What Martin is doing for this cancer charity , clearly shows me , this is guy with his feet firmly on the ground...... and a heart of gold.
