Hi Well, my earlier thread "Slidenoise on recordings" started a new aspect for me to explore...Reaper, which Honeyboy encouraged me to study, and thank you for that Honeyboy...it looks quite interesting. Very much indeed.... I have downloaded the user manual and have looked in it several times, and especially I searched for mastering tools. It doesn'r really describe anything on this (or perhaps I just didn't find it), so I jumped to the conclusion that it doesn't have compression, gate and such in it, but should be added as plugins.... But on the webiste for Reaper, it is mentioned that compression, gates, limiter and such is in fact included....see here... www.reaper.fm/technical.phpSo can anyone light up my mind on Reaper....is it complete og should there be any extra installations to make it work, function and communicate with external devices, such as for example Allen&Heath CED R16 through firewire.....? Does anyone here have some comments on the use of Reaper and how the menus and graphic interfaces are ? Also whether is is running multithread, so it can take advantage of a quad core cpu ? Best wishes Eholst

Eholst, I haven't used Reaper for quite a while, so I am no expert in the latest version. Read chapter 16 of the user guide. This covers all the built in Reaper plugins in detail with step by step tutorials which use some supplied example files. In particular, section 16.4 goes through step by step using sound shaping effects: EQ. Connecting hardware to Reaper is the wrong concept. If your hardware manufacturer produces a windows driver, then that hardware will connect to any DAW that uses standard audio protocols, Reaper included. Reaper is multithreaded, which you will notice when you are rendering (saving) your processed audio files. There is a Reaper forum hereIn particular, there is a sub forum called Newbieland, where they say 'Don't be embarrassed, nothing is too easy to discuss... Here you will find many answers (87 pages curently!) to a variety of useful questions that have already been asked by people going through just the same learning process as you are now at.. I'd suggest this Reaper forum is where you will best find detailed answers to all your Reaper questions. Good luck. Perhaps you can share some of your slide guitar results with us when you have had time to research, play around with and ultimately master use of this powerful tool.
