Hey Michael, a friend recently turned me into these: www.placidaudio.com/Haven't ordered yet, but judging from the demo tracks, that nasal phone-like sound reminded me of some of the loops that you use, so I thought it might be interesting for you that there's a mic that does this sound instantly - with some vibe, as it seems. Just in case you weren't aware of them already

Hi Nico, Thank you for the link to Copperphone Mics. I agree, they look very interesting indeed. No I was not aware of them and now I want one!!!!! photo by Joel Hamilton taken @ Studio G The Copperphone™ mic uses components from vintage communications equipment to achieve a true telephone, lo-fi, AM radio sound. The copper capsule is hand crafted and precision machined. It is extremely durable. Because the Copperphone™ is a totally passive dynamic microphone, it requires no power and uses a standard XLR 3 pin connection. The mic can take extremely high sound pressure levels (kick drum/guitar amps) with no risk of damaging the diaphragm. The Copperphone™ mic can be used in a live setting or in the studio. Experiment! It can add that nostalgic quality to the sound of just about any instrument. CONTACT / QUESTIONS mark@placidaudio.com Placid Audio P.O. Box 720401 Dallas, TX 75372 Keep in touch, Shine On, Michael.
