Hi Davered,
Thanks for the heads up about my notecannons page, it was written 7 or 8 years ago and need updating, I didn't have my 'bolt then..
I just took a look at jessedeanfreeman's site, and yes, his picture of Lenny's lightning bolt shows an instrument with a tricone neck, (Len has sent me pictures of it many years ago), so it is almost certainly based on an early style 0 (actually Zero, a single cone from the same series as the first style 1,2,3,4 tricones) instrument with 3 piece German silver body.
Mine however has a later style neck and serial # so I'd venture that by then they were placing the same(?) stencil/mask on what were by then called Ns... Mine DOES have a German silver body too... So it is hard to call it an 0 (or O)...
Aloha
Colin

Colin, That's the problem when trying to accurately date and categorize models from 80 years ago. When trying to do the same for say, stratocasters similar anomalies can be encountered and that's "only" 50 years ago. I notice on my previous post I forgot to put the the web address for the last site I mentioned, it's the Vintage Nationals site at www.nationalguitar.com/national_guitar_about/national_guitar_photo_gallery.php
