I had decided to get an entry level tricone for some fun, Michael recommended having a chat with Ron at the LOndon Reso Centre which I did. Ron recommended an Ozark 3615 De Luxe single cone as a really great buy rather than a tri.
What do you guys think? One or Three?

I think you've really got to try both and decide for yourself, musical sounds are very subjective. I like the volume and 'bark' of a good single cone for raw blues, but that's just one viewpoint....you really have got to play, listen and make up your own mind.

ditto what he said.
I bought a single cone brass body (nrp style n) first...then a few years later a steel body single cone (nrp delphi), last summer a tricone....having spent time with the three i find that the one i use the least is the style n...mainly cos the delphi has the grunt, the tricone is super sweet - but the style in is sort of inbetween/no-mans-land. this probably doesn't make sense but that how my ears hear it.
Ideally you wanna be in a situation where you can compare them right next to each other and be able to spend a bit of time swapping them back and forth in a nice quiet enviroment - at the end of the day you'll then know what you prefer.

What do you guys think? One or Three? Definitely three - a single cone, a tricone and a dobro!!!

Hi Tommo
I just went through that one - frustrating.
I went down to lRC an tried em. And yes the Brass Ozark is V nice. I was sorely tempted but i knew the Tricone sound was what i wanted and there's not much around between the £500-£700 mark - or even the £700 - £1200 mark if you want play it before purchasing.
In the end i opted for the cheaper Tricone with a view to getting it upgraded - and went for the one with a tone that i liked. With the idea that a good basic tone can be improved but a bad basic tone is harder to sort.
I enjoyed my trip to LRC - and the Burger in harrods ;D ;D after

I think Roj is right about budget priced Tricones - there really isn't much in the mid-range and the best option to upgrade and improve a cheaper one.
It sounds like a good day to me......a trip to LRC & a burdger in Harrods afterwards.....very nice!
Shine On, Michael.

Roj
Thanks a lot for your input, I have narrowed it down to the Ozark 3615 or the AMG2 and I think that the tricone will probably get the nod. As a matter of interest what was your intended choice when you hit LRC?
Ah well until I tea break is now over and I need to get back to the Martin.
