Hi Garry,
I have thought about using a system like this but then asked the question "What do I gain over simply using an SM57?". And I couldn't think of a good answer !
This company's mic's are omnidirectional, so they are not going to be good for most blues gig type of applications. Also, having a mic fixed to the instrument does increase body/finger noise over playing tone (I've tried it) and therefore it sounds a little unnatural. And you cannot control the volume and tone by moving in and out on the mic, so to move from rhythm to lead you would need a volume control somewhere.
No, I can't think of an advantage over simply standing or sitting with an SM57 (or other good mic) in front of you and "working" the mic. It is interesting that they are mainly aiming at fiddlers who play solo or in duets - that sort of sums up the value really.
A tight pattern unidirectional mic with perfectly free suspension attachment system would be better. But again, you may as well just stand or sit with a good mic infront of you!

Ah, I didn't really delve in closely. I can see that the omni pattern would be a sure fire route to feedback hell. I can see also that handling noise could be bit of a problem.
On the other hand, I do tend to play standing up and find it frustrating not to be able to move about a bit when I get excited!

You seem to get along pretty well with an SM57 to me Garry ;D

A Shure SM57 is still for my taste the most natural and easy way to amplify a resonator guitar.

I have heard a Tanglewood wood body guitar played with one of these through my Bose. It sounded very full but seemed to echo a lot. Rather like playing a guitar in the bathroom.
Gary sounds very good through an SM57 through my Bose, but there again so do I with the pickups on my several Buskers. Loud acoustic rather than loud electric is the general opinion.
