Here he discusses with fellow enthusiasts the way the blues has been a potent vehicle to express personal pain - and indeed joy - but has also been a valuable force for social reform. With David will be Paul Jones, the presenter of the Rhythm and Blues show on Radio 2, singer with The Blues Band and The Manfreds and one of the finest blues harmonica players you will ever hear. The blues historian Paul Oliver who wrote the Blues Fell This Morning and The Story of the Blues, will also be talking about his latest book Barrelhouse Blues. Also on stage will be acclaimed British Bluesman Ian Siegal, whose latest CD Broadside was named as MOJO Blues Album of 2009 (the first time a British artist has been given that accolade); young Londoner Marcus Bonfanti who proves that you don't have to be old to love the blues and play it with conviction; and Cooking Vinyl recording artists Michael Messer and Ed Genis, who play thrilling slide guitar. Michael is so identified with the resonator guitar that he now has genuine 30s-style instruments made to his own exacting specifications. Young Londoner Marcus Bonfanti who proves that you don't have to be old to love the blues and play them with conviction. Shine On Michael

I might be able to attend, ( I even know which college Christ Church is!) but it really would help if we were told the date it was happening...
Helpfully,

Thanks to everyone who came to the show last night. I thought it worked really well; David Freeman was an excellent host and Paul Oliver is always a pleasure to listen to and spend time with. Four generations of British blues musicians talking about their music and playing solo and together as a group, was both interesting and entertaining. Thanks to David for making it happen.
I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as we did.
Shine On Michael.
