Hi All
I'm intrigued and hope someone can remember what was going on on the 27th June 2007 The forum stats show that there were a record number of users online (85) at 2.25am. What was it that had 85 coneheads all tapping away in the middle of the night? Can anyone remember? Had they all just got home from an amazing slide gig and felt they must tell someone about it

I have often wondered that too. The hit counter does definitely rise when an event is happening or has just happened. What happened on 27th June 2007 to bring in 85 Coneheads at the same time is not known to me either.

I'd also wondered what the explanation was for that activity. I've looked at the threads with activity for 27th June 2007, and there is nothing particular that stands out.. There is no evidence of any unusual user activity left on that date. Upgrading from a Regal RD3 Small Valve Amp Kits So, if there was evidence, it must have been deleted. Why would it have been deleted? My hypothesis is the following: The board settings from that time allowed any 'Guest' to post without logging in (there are several Dave King posts from around this time as 'Guest' for example). I would imagine this led to a situation where 'hacker scripts' impersonating users would 'troll' looking for boards with open access and then automatically post spam, gobbledegook or nuisance messages. My guess that this date is a record of a collection of such 'script exploits' congregating to cause mischief. Not sure when the board settings were changed so that only registered users could post, but I'd guess it wouldn't have been too long after this point? I'll get me coat.....

What I should have said is that 85 is not that much above the higher end of average users per day. The change to forum settings to stop spam did reduce that a little.
The average daily usage of the forum is around 50 members and 450 non-members. On a good day I have seen it go up to 70 members and 600 non-members.
That's quite a lot of readers. Long may it continue!
