Hello fellow Reso and slide enthusiasts!
Two reasons for this post. One, I'm new to slide playing and new to the forum. Two, and more importantly, I would like to publicly express my thanks to Robin Clark of Busker Guitars.
I got into slide playing about 6 months ago, having bought a "cheapy" reso (doesn't even have a name on it) from a friend of mine. It didn't take long to realise that this was the musical direction that I wanted to follow, and I quickly developed a fascination for the metal bodied variety of instrument. Where to go for a metal bodied guitar without spending a fortune?
A quick 'Google' search delivered Busker Guitars to my screen.
Having looked at Busker's web site I reckoned the Delta was going to be the one for me, so I emailed Robin a series of typically stupid beginners questions, all of which were answered quickly and completely.
To cut a long story short, I now own a Busker Delta. A move I do not regret I can assure you.
It was with me within 2 days of paying for it and was expertly packed.
My slide playing has taken a massive leap forward in the short time that I've had it simply because I cant put the bloody thing down!!!!!!!
Having struggled with narrow necked guitars, it was a breath of fresh air to get hold of a neck you can 'stretch out' on!
There is actually space between the strings!
It took me a little while to warm to it I'll admit, but "oh man" I wont be without this guitar, I love the thing!
I've spoken to Robin on the phone a couple of times, he has an infectious enthusiasm for these guitars. He is happy to spend time discussing a customers requirements and, importantly, isn't afraid to put his opinion if he feels that person is on the wrong track. Old fashioned service as good as it gets. He seems to have re-created an old concept that has been missing for many years, that of 'supplying the working mans guitar to the working man'. Works for me!
If you want a quality, very playable reso on a budget, check out Busker and have a chat with Robin.
