In a moment (well much agonising actually) of financial madness I bought a National Radiotone from Frailers guitar shop in Runcorn. Excellent shop. If your are in the north, it certainly worth a visit. An excellent selection of resonators inc plenty of second hand Nationals and Dobros all considerably cheaper than London prices.
I bought the Radiotone because IMHO it was the best sounding guitar in the shop. If anyone could help, I would like to know some backgrond on this model. I couldn't find out much on the web, although it it seems that they were a fairly short run before the Bendaways. My Radiotone has a serial number RT-616 and a date of 14-1-98. It is unstained maple laminate with grey baked on finish on the coverplate and tailpiece. Does anyone have any more info?
many thanks
David

My Bendaway was made in Dec 2000 (and stayed on the shelf nearly 4 years before I bought it!) - like you I had no idea that there was a previous Radiotone until Kenny Sultan brought his to Bluesweek 2005. Maybe could ask Kenny if he knows anything - there is a link from the European Blues Association website.

Just been on the National website & see the NRP Radiotone Bendaway is no longer on the site - has it been discontinued?
