Well it is about to happen and although I have a list of folks who want to take a turn at the Open Mic are there any who want to have a go that have not yet booked?
Chickenbone John is leading us off at noon. Does anybody have any prefered spots they wish to book? Form an orderly line and don't squabble.....
...........And while we are on the subject - Oldmanblue have you got butterflies yet?
Cheers Percy

I'm interested in playing, Percy, but haven't got a solo guitar party piece that I'm happy with so will there be an opportunity to jam and does this require booking ? I plan to bring a Strat copy. I understand there will be a couple of amps at the venue.
Cheers.

I'm actually looking forward to seeing others play to be honest and also to the impromptu jams that will undoubtedly set up and go on till well into the early hours. I have a couple of my own songs that I could do if theres time, though I'm just happy to meet folk, jam, shoot the breeze and hear some great music by some better musicians than I am.

Looks like the 'partnered jams' are off to a good start then!

I too haven't yet got asolo party piece and a very limited repotoire of slide licks but would get up to have a jam with some others. I'll probably bring my little roland micro cube ampwise. Very similar to a DA5

I could do a demonstration call `How To Make A Lap-Steel` , takes about 10 mins. from block of wood to playable instrument. Will come with wood, pick-up and screw driver just in case. Pete T.

I will bring my harps for jamming purposes, if that's ok Percy.
As a fledgling conehead I wouldn't inflict my limited slide playing on others on a solo basis, but I'm keen to get involved in impromptu jammage.

Thanks for the amp, Chris. I was thinking of bringing my battery powered Line 6 one too. Sounds like we're gonna have a great time.

You are dead right Chris. Nerves are kicking in.
I took my tricone down the pub jam session last night and regaled them with Got My Mojo Working and Prodigal Son. My slide playing was rough as a badger's *rse, even by my own standards, but everyone loved it, 'cos most of them don't know any better. But it's quite another thing to get up and play slide in front of a bunch of dedicated coneheads, who emphatically do know better!
Slide licks for harp riffs sounds like an excellent deal to me.

I hope nobody minds me saying that although it is great to bring 'non slidey' instruments for various reasons....confidence, variation etc, this is a Slide Guitar Festival and slide guitar in some form really should be at the core of all the performances and jams.
Playing in front of a very knowledgeable audience may appear daunting, but actually you will find them to be very supportive.

Sounds like you should be playing N-N-N-N-Nervous - No not the Jets - Willie D.
Just for a bit of texture, I invited an old mate, Arthur Luke, along. He is a very nifty harp player and the man does love a jam. Sadly he can't make it as he's got a gig of his own to play. So all' s well if anyone fancies a bit of sucking and blowing instead of slippin' and a slidin'. But as Michael says its a slide show. I don't think that we will be short of a few players willing to fill in with a bit of rhythm, but there will also be a very dedicated bass player along on the day too.
How do you folks know how rough a badgers bum is?

I'll be there to soak up the ambience myself (and a few pints of bottleneck). I like Pete T's suggestion on 'how to make a lap steel in 10 minutes', I'll bring my plankocaster along (which took a damn sight more than 10 minutes). I've got a (mains only) 15W Vox Valvetronix that I can bring along if necessary. Looking forward to seeing you all, but especially the Yorkshire contingent (or is that brigade)

How do you folks know how rough a badgers bum is? There's a European Standard for it now, replacing the old Imperial System. I thought everyone knew that. As for the Yorkists, would they actually be Brigantes?

I think the open mic stage is a very important part of our event and I for one want to hear as many people playing slide as possible. We obviously do need some rhythm guitarists, but as this is the '1st British Slide Guitar Festival', it is slide players that we really want to hear.
I look forward to it

I'm in. Should get there just after 12 equipped with tricone, slide and a toothbrush. Up for anything, open mic, accompaniment and sharing of knowledge.
See all y'all.
