Hi there Michael and all other forum members. This is my maiden post, so I'm primarily just saying hello.
I was at the Pocklington weekend so I've already met a few of you. I'm the lanky geezer that plays harp (adequately) and was struggling my way through the slide workshops with a wooden Recording King OM and my somewhat inappropriate flatpick and fingers technique.
I really enjoyed the weekend and managed to learn enough to get the slide bug, big-style. Being an impetuous fool I went off and blew an unfeasible amount of dosh on a handbuilt tricone from John at Delta Guitars - probably not the most sensible option, but I'm loving it and can't put the thing down. I've also converted (remarkably easily, to my surprise) to thumbpick and finger picks, which was definitely the way to go.
I'm hoping to make it down for the Slide Fest so look forward to catching up with some of you again and meeting lots of new conehead friends.
Regards,
Steve

Hi Steverb,
You are very welcome to our forum.
I am really pleased to hear how much you enjoyed the blues weekend, and that you have got the slide & resophonic guitar bug big time! I could tell that something was clicking into place and that you were serious about learning. Fingerpicks too! Excellent stuff. I look forward to hopefully catching up with you at the Slide festival.
Keep in touch,
Shine On Michael.

Hi Steverb
I too caught the slide bug at Pocklington and am looking forward to Slidefest. I've fixed up my resonator and am trying fingerpicks too. Hope you can make it

Hi Chris, Bob & Gerry; thanks for the welcome.
I am now in possession of my secret slidefest code and a firm booking for the Red Lion so it's all systems go. I'm really interested to find out what you make of my new tricone; is it really as nice as I think or am I just in luuuurve?

Ah, welcome Steve, another member from the Yorkshire Delta. Great now we can take over the world!
I remember you (and your harp playing was far better than adequate) and look forward to seeing you at Slidefest

Many thanks for your kind words Ken. Actually, I did used to think my harp playing was a little better than adequate until I went to the Pock weekend. There were two or three guys there that were unbelievable - tone and power like a horn section and chops to die (or kill) for - and that's not even counting Eddie Martin, who is just astonishing. How you get that much power, tone and expression playing on a neck rack at the same time as cranking out some pretty tasty guitar licks is beyond me.
It all made me feel a bit inadequate on the harp front, I'm afraid. Some people have clearly gone to the crossroads and sold their soul to the devil !!!

Hey Steve, just noticed that you're pretty close to my neck of the woods: at t'foot of t'hill in snowy Shipley. Perhaps we can organise a get-together at some point: I've been looking for a good harp-player for ages!
Cheerily,
Gerry C

Sorry Gerry, I meant to reply to your last post several days ago and completely forgot. A get-together sounds excellent. As well as some guitar/harp combinations we can also compare guitar collections.
We can sort it all out at Slidefest.

Bit of a Yorkshire resident contingent coming down to Slidefest. Including myself.
Looking forward to meeting all there.
