I have been playing slide guitar for a while now, mainly on old dreadnought acoustics, but now on a Vintage cutaway reso. This guitar, after pulling apart and rebuilding with a bone nut, new strings and a good clean out inside , now has a great sound and feel. Not sure I like the sound of the humbucker though, maybe I'll persevere with it, but the acoustic sound is now glorious. Goes to show that budget resos can be made to sound great, I was going to replace the cone, but I think I'll hang fire on that for now.
I have read somewhere that people find their favoured slide, and then proceed to keep losing it, often permanently. My solution is to buy a tool clip from a hardware shop, screw it to the back of the headstock, and use it to store your slide. I dont know if it makes any difference, but the weight of a slide and a Kyser capo clamped to the headstock might even add to the tone too.....
On another note, if I ordered a new biscuit for my guitar, does it come with the bridge as well, or do I get that separately. I looked on the Resound website, and the advertise replacement biscuits, but no mention of bridges. Yet it is the bridge that I may need to replace in the future.
I think I may have started a reso addiction.....
