Listening to a compilation set today, there is a track by Fred McMullen, Dekalb Chain Gang from 1933. Curley Weaver ( Blind Willie Mctell's sidekick) is with him. Anyone know if this duo made any other recordings?

McMullen recorded four tracks with Weaver on which he sings and 3 others with Ruth Willis on vocal. They can be found, along with some Weaver tracks and the superb harp of Eddie Mapp on the Document "Georgia Blues 1928-33" cd.
His playing style was unusual in that he played out of Spanish tuning (probably open G) but in keys other than that of the tuning, eg D, without capo. He has wonderful time and a great voice.

you might have also looked at my Fred McMullen discography at www.wirz.de/music/mcmullen.htm --- although with - I'm afraid - not a very different result buyingwise ;-)
