I read in Brozman's book and elsewhere that resonators aren't happy if played with bare fingers; something to do with too much energy being imparted into the string as opposed to using picks. What's the truth behind this and does it apply to hybrid pick and fingernails technique, which is what I use?
Thanks Snake

I'm not sure that anyone told Bukka White or Son House This topic has come up a few times on quite a few forums. Bob wrote his book about 20 years ago now and he may well have been refering to vintage guitars, which possibly could have weakend cones. My advice would be to play the hell out of your guitar - however you want to play. Many players use bare fingers on their reso guitars - it is no less "safe" than using picks. Robin

Thanks for the reassurance Robin; I couldn't for the life of me figure out why it would be an issue. These things are hardly delicate featherweights!
