Finished watching the news last night, and left the box on for a bit while I did something else. Programme after the news was something called "The Planners are Coming" about planning departments and building control. OK not everyone pet topic, but the music between the dialogue was great. Lots of low down blues riffs, both electric and acoustic, a bit of slide and at one point the distict sound of a resonator in there. Brought me back from what I had intended to do, to sit through the whole programme.
Dont know who did the music for it, as I missed them on the credits, but the music on the programme was great IMO.

I think the music may be Seasick Steve. I half watched one of those programmes a while ago (probably doing something else at the same time) and I think I heard something from his Dog House Music CD in the background. I can't be sure all of it is his work though.

It could well have been Seasick Steve, but I haven't seen the programme. Usually for documentary soundtracks the production companies use library music cds. These are albums recorded on spec by musicians for soundtrack use. They get mailed around to all the production companies and hopefully get used to make a soundtrack. Often these recordings are 'sounds like' pieces of music that do not cost the production company as much as using the real thing. Having said all that, SS is so much in fashion at the moment that it could be his music. I just Googled the production company of 'The Planners Are Coming' - here is their website - www.iwcmedia.co.ukJane Merkin is the BBC execiutive producer and the series producer was Nic Blower for IWC Media Email Nic Blower at IWC - or try jane.merkin@bbc.co.uk Let me know how you get on. It was definately Seasick Steve. I saw another one of these programmes a couple of weeks ago and the music was from his Dog House Music CD, can't remember the song but it was definately him. It's a good CD, by-the-way.
