I've decided I like my Diamond bottleneck too much to exchange it, so I'm thinking of making my own. There's excellent advice about how to make your own on the IGS Guitar forum, much of it from Ian McWee. Ian suggests using a Dremmel rotary tool to cut the bottle and then the attachments to polish it. The forum - www.guitarseminars.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000604.html

That's fantastic - everyone should at some time in their playing career have their very own homemade bottleneck / slide Best of luck mate & if you need any pointers during the making don't hesitate to drop me a line from our website....and remember the bottleneck-makers 'mantra' - goggles, gloves & lots of water I'm away in Bruges until next weekend, so if you do contact me & don't receive a reply i'll get back to you on my return. All the best & Slide On! Ian.

This is so weird! I've just come on to the forum (about 5.30 BST) having been sharecroppin' on the old allotment and I wanted to ask how to make my own slide! A friend of mine has given me some wine bottles* with nice straight necks and reasonably thick glass. I've tried in the past with limited success to make my own slide (and my son nicked the best one I made ) so this is most timely! Thank you very much for the link. Cheerily, Gerry C * The only problem is I have to empty the bottles first... And yes, Ian, I will allow a suitable period of time between the emptying and the working...!! ;D
