Eric Clapton & The Allman Brothers Band at the Beacon 19 March 2009 -review Posted on Mar. 20, 2009 in Permalink | Comments (0) Review by Terry Eigenheimer:
In an historic reunion at the Beacon Theater, Eric Clapton joined the Allman Brothers Band for a spirited performance (most of the second set). Though a bit tentative during the first numbers, Eric nonetheless played an inventive solo during the Allman Brothers' epic, Dreams. Derek & the Dominos classics Little Wing and Why Does Love Got to Be So Sad were highlights of the set in terms of Eric's playing. Susan Tedeschi joined the band for a welcome surpise: Anyday. The encore, to the delight of the audience, was Layla. It was evident from gestures and smiles all around how much Eric and the band enjoyed the collaboration.
Setlist:
Key to the Highway Dreams Why Does Love Got to Be So Sad? Little Wing Anyday
E: Layla

thank you for this when i hear of people into music like this i think there is still hope For me, Duane Allman was the portal through which I came to discover the wonderful world of resonators. Someone else on this forum already wrote that hearing Duane and Eric Clapton doing "Mean Ol World" was a milestone for them...me too!! BTW - Derek Trucks can tear it up pretty good too...

Agree about Derek - but I think his uncle had THE most rock'n'roll name ever - could you possibly do better than Butch Trucks?!
Cheerily,
