I know there's been quite a lot of discussion about different resonator pickups and apologise if the answer to my question has appeared in another thread, but... ...what do folks think is a simple, cheap pickup (~£50) to give an acceptable amplified resonator sound?
I'm playing an open mic night in a couple of weeks and I've got to plug in. I have a metal-bodied single cone resonator. Should I go for a stick-on magnetic pickup, a piezo transducer or what?
Thanks, Dom

Go for a passive Fishman PU.. Easy to install and they sound really good, with a pre-amp with EQ.. I use the BOSS GE-7...
Good luck!!!!!

A Pickup is one option, but the most authentic Reso sound is reproduced with a decent mike pointing to roughly where the F hole should be in the lower upper bout of the guitar. I have followed many Reso players from Michael to Steve James & Brozman and thats where the authentic amplified sound comes from. Lee.

I haven't found one at that price. I think the best of the inexpensive pickups is the Schatten.

I agree with both Lee & Pete, a microphone is the best sound, a Schatten is an excellent budget priced option, but if you are loking for something cheap'n'cheeful, try a tie-clip mic from Maplin.
