Hi all,
Can anyone recommend some raggy or Piedmont style songs in spanish tuning? Would be useful for floor spots and the like where I've only got one guitar and not so much time to keep retuning.
Any suggestions most welcome!

Spanish Fandango (hence the name of the tuning)

There are 3 fiddle tunes I know in open G tuning or spanish. Buffalo Gals, Redwing and Flop Eared Mule. I learnt then from a guitar player called Leo Winjkamp Jnr back in the 70's. I think they were adapted from mountain banjo playing.
You could try open D, and find Police Dog Blues by Blind Blake or Turn Your Money Green by Furry Lewis, or even Vestapol by Elizabeth Cotton.
Best wishes

Hi there !
Perhaps not the sort of thing you are into, but how about early John Lee Hooker stuff ?

Theres some obscure songwriting duo called Jagger/Richards who did some open G tuned stuff as well!

Thanks for the suggestions all.
Tunes is D would work too so good call on "Police Dog Blues" although it'll have to end up being a "lite" version because I can't get within a light year of how Blake does it, and know to a moral certainty that I never will (unless I quit my job and spend 9-5 working on thumb rolls)!

How about Coalman Blues by Peg Leg Howell. That's in open G.
And it doesn't matter if you have to do a "lite" version - it's so obscure no one will know anyway!!

You say that as if it could be a bad thing...!

There's a mass of Peg Leg Howell in Spanish. Plenty of what works in G standard can quite easily be arranged in spanish. Piedmont songs like Step it up & go work easily in this tuning. Not Piedmont, but Clifford Gibson played a lot in this tuning. Buddy Boy Hawkins (some nice raggy stuf f there) & you're only one string away from Bo Carter (drop G).
