Are the Diamond Redhouse bottlenecks round? If not, are they easy to use? The Ultimate seem to be, but £25 for a bottleneck is a little steep, though, quite likely worth it.

;D ;D ;D Maybe there's a market for square bottle necks. Hey at least they wouldn't roll of the table like my last one did. Sorry, can't help myself

Toom
In cross section they are round, all of my 5 are anyway. £25 quid for a hand made work of art is a very good deal.

...If the latest batch that left here Saturday aren't round - i need to head over to Specsavers a bit sharpish ;D... ...Hey Ben - you'll find out today ... We're always receiving custom (..oddball??..) requests for slides - the latest, and one of the most interesting ones - is for an 'Ultimate' crystal slide with a 'flattened' area added along the length of one side, about 8mm in width. This has two advantages; the first is to allow for a comfortable thinner edge on the slide to lie between the ring & pinky finger (the customer is a lady with very small fingers who places her slide on the ring finger)....and if you lie your slide on a table with the 'flat area' downwards - it won't roll off the table!..Now why didn't i think of that . Talking of round slides - a few years ago we had a request from an American slider who wanted a glass slide with the exact shape - both inside & out - of a steel Craftsman socket. I made a diagram, explained to my chaps what was needed & they made one up.....but they made it 'inside out', so the actual inside of this 'glass socket' was perfectly round....and the outside of the slide had eight sides to it - it's now an interesting talking point at shows.... Thanks again to all here for your lovely words about our slides Slide On! Ian.

Diamond bottlenecks... I've played slide for forty years - as a speciality for the last four - and tried most of what's out there and some of what isn't... The search stops with Diamond. I've got two lead crystal Ultimates, samples of which have been kindly posted by a fan and can be heard at:-http://mindfullivingguide.blogspot.com/2009/03/special-sort-of-day.html. But, in case I'm merely biased - I endorse them - please check out Acoustic magazine for April 09 and get someone else's opinion. The Diamond company (www.diamondbottlenecks.com) is as friendly as they come. Ian McWee will sort you out exactly what you want and the service is fast and the prices are right. And they are my favourite for playing resonators, acoustic and electric. They even work on nylon strings. And others who agree with me include Bob Brozman & Debashish Bhattachurya. Oh, I ain't no fool... Slide on.

Me too. This is mine. Made from an obscure wine bottle. I sent my pinky dimensions to Ian at Diamond. He came up with this Fits me perfectly, I need to get another in case I break it. I used to swear by only using brass until this one came along. Diamond Bottlenecks are the best IMO
