Thanks for posting that very sad news Wolvoboy. Two of my favourite records at the time were - A New World Record, and, Out Of The Blue. I have great respect for ELO....Jeff Lynne, Bev Bevan, Richard Tandy, Kelly Groucutt, Hugh McDowell, Mik Kaminski...etc.
History has lost ELO in the 'punk versus hippies' myth. It was an interesting time and although ELO were doing all the mega shows with lights and flying saucer stages, they also did actually make some great records.
Wolvo local heros too!
Shine On Michael.

A New World Record was the 1st LP i bought with my own money way back in 1976 - £3.99, I still have it with the orginal price sticker on it too! I still love ELO, Jeff Lynne's arrangements were pretty awesome. There seems to be a movement in the rock press to rediscover ELO and they are now getting the critical praise i think they deserve - as MM says, punk caught up with them and they still churned out some cracking material. RIP Kelly
