John Martyn's passing has certainly stirred up some emotions. His music touched so many people.
In the seventies, Solid Air, Sunday's Child, So Far So Good and One World, were the soundtracks to so many of our lives. His use of the Rhythm Doctor drum machine was revolutionary at the time. Wonderful.
In 1978 I went to a couple of his Sunday afternoon concerts in Regents Park. They were fantastic shows.
I saw him play a couple of times in the eighties, but never bought any albums after those classic seventies releases. I know I missed some great records, but sometimes there just isn't enough time to hear them all. I think his contribution to the BBC series 'Transatlantic Sessions' was wonderful.
Shine On Michael.
