Ian will tell you more about the technical aspect of this, but I have just received one of these.
Designed for low action and electric guitars, I have played it one my cutaway Goodfellow which has a very low action indeed and the slightly higher action 30 yr old Goodfellow and it is BRILLIANT on both.
A video about this slide soon.
There are some places around here where taking 2 guitars is an act linking pearls and swine. So now I shall be able to take one Fylde, play all the rock and folk stuff as well as some bottleneck. Horses for Courses!
What a brilliant slide. I've already reserved another one!

Hi Barry & all! Thanks for your kind words Barry The smoky grey crystal slide Barry mentions here is made by our 'glass bar' fellow, Dom - the heavily patterned crystal bars he creates for us are real works of art & are fantastic peices of kit....but his crystal tubes tend to come to us a little on the 'thin-walled' side. Most folks who know us will know we produce our glassware aimed squarely at resonator & acoustic guitar players (...most slides sound fine on electric guitars when played through high-gain amps...even Pyrex!) but if the necessary weight allowed by thicker side-walls isn't apparent - it won't work on reso's or heavily srung acoustics. The wall thickness of Barry's slide is around 2mm (instead if the 5mm - 7mm thickness of our usual stock crystal tubes) with a thicker top-end to give good heft on the bass strings, so for a wood-bodied acoustic with lower action it'll perform superbly I've ordered a couple more of these tubes from Dom, so Barry - i'll call you when they're in stock . Cheers chaps....and Slide On! Ian.

Ian, it is interesting what you say about electric guitars and the quality of slides. I am sure that with many players it doesn't matter that much on electric guitars, but I am as fussy about the slide I use on an electric as on an acoustic or resonator guitar. I have done comparisons with well known brand name Pyrex slides and thin walled real glass slides, some even thinner than the Pyrex ones, and I believe the real glass ones are better every time. There is no way that Pyrex can ever have the tone of of a real glass slide. The Pyrex slides ARE ovenproof and that is about all Shine On Michael

Hi Michael, Yes indeed - my posting really should've focused on the fact that Pyrex slides would be considered perfectly useable 'tonally' for most electric players out there who consider slide guitar as just one element of their playing repertioré....... serious slide players for whom the slide guitar is their primary (and in most cases, only) instrument of choice will choose 'real' glass over any form of Pyrex tube 99% of the time to provide a purer tone & sustain on both electric & acoustic instruments....as we both readily agree, no way can any piece of Pyrex tube ever hope to match genuine glass in tone!! In my case, the only Pyrex i ever use has red level markings printed on the sides - and heats custard! Slide On! Ian.

Here, at last, at , is the video of this slide.
Fylde Goodfellow guitar, set up 30 years ago for Nic Jones style trad folk playing. No other slide has worked at all well on this guitar.
A very good slide indeed, well done Ian and co.

Firebundle and Al
Thanks for your comments.
That Fylde will do almost anything musically that I ask it to, but as a slide guitar it is a revalation with this particular slide.

Ian has sent me the second of these slides; one for each Goodfellow! A really fine slide that makes a wonderful wooden acoustic sliding sound whever it meets a Goodfellow in open tuning. Thank you again Ian.

I've altered the Heathrow Airport blues to relate to Stanstead airport, and the destruction of ancient woodland at Hatfiled Forset.
I have played it on my new Fylde, in Dm, recorded with the camera mic getting both the acoustic sound plus some Fender Vibro Champ on voice 6 which is a 1960's Marshall amp, so they say.
This shows of the DB lightweight slide, and gives a sound to the song both different to the Deco version but oddly similar.
It is here; enjoy.
