HI Michael & Robin Purely out of interest . I noticed your pound reached an all time low today , Mid-day it hit 92p ........ How are you going to handle anyone here on the Euro Continent who would wish to purchase one of you guitars now ?
Busker Deco ( basic model) £ 480 ........ todays price in 517 euros
I noticed on a well known English musical suppliers website today they were giving the price in pounds , then you had to hit a currency converter for the price in euros , which was way, way above what you should be paying. It seems they are pricing it out at what they think you should be paying ....... which is wrong, if not illegal.
When the pound is strong and the American dollar is weak there is all this talk about purchasing Nationals from musical stores over there, let alone all the Brits who head over here for the cheap wine and houses bought with the strong pound. Now with the boot on the other foot, it seems certain traders do'nt like it.
I'm sorry this is not really guitar related...... ohh well to cheer myself up I am going back to see the Family this weekend with my ...... euros
Regards Growler

I count myself lucky, as I have just got back from a ski-ing trip, but I bought my euros at what I thought even then was a poor rate of 1.13 to the £. I'm glad I did.
Yep in many ways we have had it good for a while, certainly I was tempted when those in the US were paying in $s what we were in £s.
The state of the Euro-£ also means that buying stuff from folks like Thomann in Germany for us in the UK isnt as attractive, even.

You are right Growler. I just checked Reuters too. My apologies. Let's try and keep our forum on the subject of guitars, music and music-related subjects. There are plenty of places where we can talk news, money & politics. Thanks Shine On Michael

Mmmm......
I wouldn't give that music company too hard a time Growler. There may be a good reason for what they are doing. If they have partners in the Euro zone or distributors in the Euro zone they could be tied in not to supply direct at a price that will bring down say a French or German part of the same firm, costing jobs in those countries.
The problem with exchange rates is that they are driven by speculators not reasoned policy and they distort the real relative value of people's hard earned cash. Instability helps no one in the long run.

Its me who be apologizing Michael, it really was an inappropriate posts in the light of whats going on at the moment . My heart goes out to all people loosing jobs and all the hardship that goes with it, and most of the time it is has been no fault of there own . I agree lets keep it to a guitar forum that it is...... and would'nt it be nice if those so called City Financiers , who have been responsible for this present crisis would use there time learning to play the guitar , instead of mucking around with other peoples money and livelihoods
I think I will sign off now and i wish every forum member a Happy Xmas And a better New Year that is promised for us all
All the best Growler

and would'nt it be nice if those so called City Financiers , who have been responsible for this present crisis would use there time learning to play the guitar , instead of mucking around with other peoples money and livelihoods I think quite a few of these City Financiers own a few vintage guitars themselves. Bet you there is a lot of City money tied up in mid 50s Blackguards, late 50s Gibsons, and early 60s Strats. Trouble is that many are sitting in vaults or glass cases and not being played. Back to less contentious subjects, like Vintage National vs. National Resophonic ;D
