Hi All, Thought I would share pics of my latest acquisition, the Busker Cannon. This is a wonderful guitar, small, light, killer woody tone. A great compliment to my MM Blues. The only thing I wanted to change was the finish, it was well applied but it was a semi-matt. Thought it would be good gloss. So with some advice from Robin had a go at hand polishing. All you need is some wire wool, beeswax and metal polish, oh and a couple of days rubbing! Also wanted to see if I could upload pics, from my apple gallery - put the URL and insert image, so hope one of them works. (if it don't work but you see a thumbnail then just keep clicking until you get the pic) cheers Mel www.me.com/gallery/#100014/IMG_2842_2

Melp
My Cannon's body was also semi gloss and rather rough to touch. The neck however was smooth and brilliant. I applied lots of thick furniture wax to the body and now it has soaked in and the body feels better. It is a fine guitar.
You can hear/see my recording of my Cannon on You Tube......many other people have from all around the world.

Barry,
Nice one! I did not touch the neck, its just great as is. I did put some lemon oil on the fingerboard, to get rid of some of the varnish. I used some fast fret to clean the strings and it started to dissolve the varnish. But with a couple of go's it got it all off. Actually the wood is quite nicely figured.
The thing that really impresses me with this guitar its got lovely note definition. Great range of tones and very mellow near the end of the board.
cheers
Mel

Melp As much as i would have liked to look at your glossy finish 'Busker Cannon' I do not seem to be able to view your pictures unless I know your members name and password. Apart from that, I enjoyed looking at the Apple range . I could do with one of those new Quad-Core G5s, My G4s getting a bit old now.

Hi Mel, I would like to see the pics too! I tried and had the same problem as Growler and wanted a new G5. I have polished matt-finish guitars and have used two methods; the first was with metal polish, which was successful. However, on a second attempt with another instrument, I was advised to use T-Cut and it was much better & easier. First I polished the guitar with T-Cut and then I finished it off with Mer Polish. This was a few years ago - the guitar was a matt-finish Weissenborn copy and it totally transformed it into a much higher quality looking guitar. Metal polish, Mer and T-Cut, are fantastic for polishing all kinds of things. Shine On... Michael

Growler, Sorry about that the apple share thing does not seem to be very simple to use in this way. So I will try photobucket! OK that seems to work! cheers Mel

Michael,
Thanks for the tips. I think hand polish can get to be a bit addictive! Since doing this I am looking around for other things to polish. Better get back to some playing!
cheers

It looks wonderful! If you are still looking for something to polish - get some MER CAR POLISH in the blue plastic bottle and give your guitar another hour of elbow grease. You will be amazed at the results.
Have fun and.....Shine On... Michael

Yes it looks beautiful, but the most important things are how it sounds and how it plays. Both a very good I expect.
