Well spotted Bill, I found this on i-Player as well but only because I don't have a TV. Simply superb bit of Strat slide work from JB. It is available on DVD, if you do some searching. Should be available from the shops IMHO. When will they ever learn? Some bits are on Youtube (as always!) Stevie. Update; I think that this is the one that you are referring to uk.youtube.com/watch?v=EbhngojbrzQEnjoy!

"Oh yeah, the boy can play..."!! At first I thought he was still fretting with his left hand but what he WAS doing was amazing! One question: how did a 15-year old schoolgirl get the bass gig with Beck?! ;D

I think you'll find that She's around 23 now and her talent speaks for itself. Also, the material is not limited to 12 bar I-IV-V stuff. Anyone notice the trick with the talcum powder at the end of the iPlayer show?

The lady's talent was not in question, g4vrr! I simply thought her appearance was a refreshingly youthful contrast to the gnarly old codgers usually seen playing with gents of a similar age to Mr Beck (and myself, I hasten to add!!). And, even in these days of (alleged) equality, it's still quite rare to see a young woman playing bass guitar at all: rarer still to see one as top-drawer as this one! She's a better player than I was at 23; hell, she's better than me at 60 (61 next week!).

The lady in question is Tal Wilkenfeld and she is a great player. I know she has worked with Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton and Herbie Hancock, so she knows her stuff.
Jeff Beck is a great guitarist. I have always loved his playing. I first became aware of him on Yardbirds records, espially Heart Full of Soul. Jeff Beck Group, Beck Bogart Appice....he has done some great stuff. Nice slide player too!

It's interesting that I too thought that she was around 17 when I first saw the program. I was highlighting the age difference. There was no intended attempt on my part to fire off any blanks in your direction. I must try harder ;<D Stevie.

If anyone's interested, I note from this month's "Guitar and Bass" magazine that someone has seen fit to release JB's Ronnie Scott's residency on DVD (Eagle Vision) Not sure wheteher it's entirely the same selection though because the duet with Imogen Heap is a different song. Stevie.

Jeff Beck is great, probably the most distinctive electric player I've ever heard. Nobody sounds quite like him. I wish he'd get some decent material though, many of his instrumentals aren't my cup of tea. The best thing I've heard him play on was Roger Waters' Amused To Death album. It's a shame they haven't worked together again, it seems like an ideal partnership.

Hello everybody, Missed this thread first time round which is something of a surprise as I am a big fan of Jeff Beck and am particularly fond of the Who Else! album from which this track comes. Always wondered how the hell he played it and now I know. Truly awesome Thanks for the info on Tal Wilkenfeld Michael, I will look out for her work. She plays with JB on the second Crossroads Festival DVD (from 2007) and I wondered who she was. She plays some amazing bass guitar on that gig too and it's great to see a young player with such style, finesse and good taste. All the best, Joe (aka Mairena Red)
