Hello Barry
I dont spend much time at the London workshop so Celine (my business partner) runs that, my new workshop is in Kingsclere near Newbury I do however bring guitars to and from London.

Dave
Thanks for that. I shall get the Beltona to Celine as soon as I can for a new bridge and if poss a slightly higher action.

Hello
Problem was sorted last night. The cone cover came off and I widened the 1st string slot in the bridge and put it all back together. The 1st string now sings and this is one great guitar now.

Excellent!
As much as I always recommend people to go to an experienced luthier, if you are able to do minor adjustments and repairs it saves cash and teaches you how these instruments work.

Very true.
The cone on the Beltona is a very thin pressing, with I assume structual spiral ridges radiating down from the top. The bridge is attached to the cone, so when I rotated the bridge to get it in the right place the cone moved too.
The sound now is so much fuller, so resonant and far better than before. A very good guitar both for acoustic playing but especially for putting through an amp or PA.

I know a Beltona Southerner that is owned by a guy in Yorkshire. I have seen this guitar once a year since it was brand new six or seven years ago. It has an excellent acoustic sound. Loud, full with lots of prescence. So I am surprized to hear your comments about your Southerner's acoustic properties. Do you know what cone is in the guitar?

Michael
The acoustic sound was poor until the other night when I opened up the string slot for the first string, as I've mentioned earlier, and now it is very good and getting better.
I suspect the action is a bit lower than usual for an acoustic because mine has 2 pickups fitted, but the sound is still very good.
My previous post describes the cone.
