jtseem
thanks, I've got a fire in my throat right now so the next lot of singing is a few days away.
I liked your track too.

On typical acoustic pegheads, I evolved my own method (EG, I came to my own conclusions not influenced by others) It involved mimicing the Kluson "hole in the end of the post" style but letting the string lay down flush against the post instead of "down the hole" after pushing through the hole and winding over and over the top of the string fold.. I never experienced string slip and because all the windings covered the 4 or 5 mm (or so) downward bend, I never stabbed my fingers either. Then I bought a Romanian bouzouki from David Kilpatrick and "discovered" Newtone strings. In order to accomodate my style of winding I cut them, against all recommendations and did not have any adverse reaction from the strings. I bought 6 sets from Malcolm for electric guitars but I have yet to use them. I bought 2 sets designed for archtops for my Heritage Sweet16 and good as they are, they lack that WOW factor that I get with D'Addario EXPs. No disrespect to Malcolm but I'm going to audition EXPs on the Sweet16. Right- in order to dispel a rapidly growing reputation for rambling on ( and I haven't even got a reso yet) here's a link that describes string winding for slot heads (and other types if you browse the site) and I find it so simple to do. I believe it is the method that factories employ to string up because they cannot justify the time to fanny around putting strings on. www.fretnotguitarrepair.com/stringingslottedpegheads.htmBTW, most of my instruments have been retro fitted with Sperzel locking machine heads- end of problem! Stevie.
