Mind you, of course all of The Experience albums sound much better on vinyl with their original UK artwork covers sitting nearby when being played.

While having some Jimi time at MM HQ this week, as well as ARE YOU EXPERIENCED I pulled this album out and it also knocked me off my perch. Damn....this whole album HENDRIX IN THE WEST is superb. These performances of RED HOUSE and LITTLE WING are considered by many to be two of Jimi's greatest moments, masterpieces of electric guitar playing, and I can't argue with that. Mitch Mitchell and Billy Cox sound great too.

the long version of Voodoo Chile from Electric Ladyland recorded with Steve Winwood and Jack Casaday and then remastered later including Redding and Mitchell.
actually a recording of a live studio jam. proof is the "turn that damn guitar down" @ about 10 and a half minute mark screamed out from the crowd:

As you can see, the Jimi Hendrix posts were mounting up on the "What Are You Listening To" thread, so I thought that Jimi deserves his own thread, and here it is....
These two acoustic clips are great to watch. With 23 million views, I am not the only person that thinks so.
Let's try and keep this thread entertaining and interesting for visitors and members that may not know Jimi Hendrix's music.

this is just to supplement PD's Third Stone From The Sun posting above, so no need to load video again.
this a rerun from another previous Hendrix posting somewhere, but with his own thread now it should be here also.
when you load the video a little speed variation control will appear near the lower right corner that looks kinda like a small gear with six teeth on it. change speed to 2X and play to hear a science fiction story cleverly concealed within.
try it, you'll like it, mitchfit

^^^^ +1 to what Eddy said.
some of those who knew him speculate his music would have started to lean toward jazz if not for a premature passing.
@ about 9 minute mark he breaks into a jazz riff. because Noel Redding wasn't there Jimi played the jazz riff on bass also.
and like 3rd stone this'n is a science fiction story also:

Another great live compilation is one the came out about 1982, called "The Jimi Hendrix Concerts". It features a few songs from the October 1968 Winterland shows as well as some hot tracks from 1969 and 1970. I'm not sure if this ever came out on cd - the approach may not be sympatico with modern times now we have whole shows, and whole runs of shows released. A shame if that's the case, as every track on this album is a gem.

I seem to recall from earlier on the forum that someone was able to suggest who the 12 string Zemaitis belonged to. Could someone remind me please? Hendrix on acoustic, he sounds so great! Also, the opening shot of him on the stool with the hat and feather looks unbelievably cool. We were not worthy. Cheers Andy

The one we are all waiting for is the pukkah Royal Albert Hall film and soundtrack which is still being argued about by 'the estate' who had no interest in JH until he was dead and making loads of posthumous money, and the people who were actually there, did the filming, recording and want a share of the money, too. Bloody show business. Bloody lawyers - it stinks! This is history we're talking about !!!! I was at that concert on October 21st 1969. It was excellent. I am now 75 years old and at least I have that performance in my head as a fantastic memory. ...but the way that 'the estate' is behaving I won't be able to sit with my children and grandchildren to share the experience and that pisses me off big time.

Hi PD At least you got to see Hendrix. I was far too young. It is so terrible, firstly that Jimi died so young, but secondly the way the business, or certain people in the business, treated his legacy. I read Noel Redding’s book, it is an excruciating, obsessive (and with good reason) search for the truth about the finances. At least we have his music and that is a phenomenal gift to us. Andy
